KIDS' PROGRAMS


This page provides an overview of the programs and activities available in our Children's Department. Check the Library's Event Calendar and Twitter for current and specific information. Sneak a peek at the Children's Department Newsletter and Calendar for January and February.

Register for Children's programs at the library or call 613-687-2227 ext. 0. For information about programming, call Alyson at 613-687-2227 ext. 29.

A "one-time" Registration form must be filled out for each family with children attending a registered program at the library. Pick one up on your next visit or download it, print it out and drop it off before the event.


STORYTIME

Saturday Storytime takes place every week at 1pm. No registration required and all ages are welcome.

A new session of Tuesday Storytime (for 3-6 yr olds) and Wednesday Storytime (for 3-6 yr olds) begins January 17 & 18. This program is now full.

Toddler Storytime (for 2-3 yr olds) takes place on the last Monday of every month. Toddler storytime is now a drop in program for a maximum of 12 tots.

WIGGLES & GIGGLES STORYTIME FOR BABIES (Starts February 10 at 2pm)


A program for little ones aged 0-24 months with rhymes, songs, stories and bounces running every second Friday at 2pm (Feb-Apr. 2012).

Important note: Wiggles & Giggles is being run as a drop in BUT space is limited to the first 12 babies. The sign up sheet will be placed in the hallway outside the library prior to each event.

FREE KINDERMUSIK DEMONSTRATIONS -- ABC MUSIC AND ME (returns February 18)


Register at the library for this FREE program designed to promote early childhood language and literacy development through music. R
un by a Kindermusik instructor, it is geared to 0-7 year olds and will run on the third Saturday of each month at 2 pm.

PAWS TO READtm


What a great way to encourage reading! Sign your child up for a 15 min. reading session with a certified therapy dog. Get your child excited about reading again! Register at the library or call 613-687-2227 ext. 0.

CRAZY FUN EVENT NIGHTS


Registration is required and space is limited for these programs:

Campfire Tales . Family Literacy Day Event. (Friday January 27, 6:30-7:30pm - after hours!) Please note the time has been changed from what was publshed in the newletter.

Bring on the Heat! Ages 7-12. (Thursday February 9, 6-7pm.) Remember to bring something suitable for tie-dying!

Sizzlin' Summer Stories. Ages 3-7. (Friday February 17, 4:30-5:30pm.)

CRAFT DAYS

READING BUDDIES


Improve your child's reading by registering him or her for Reading Buddies! The program pairs your child (grade 1 and up) with a high school student who is earning community service credit. "Buddies" meet at the library once a week to work on reading skills by reading aloud with each other. Register now!

EARLY LITERACY STATION


Visit the Children's Department to try out the Early Literacy Station for ages 2 - 10 years. Lots of age appropriate educational programs to experience. Click here to see a list of what's available. A selection of French language programs is now available!

PAGE EATERS


Grades K-2, 3-6 and 7-8 register now! Running for 11 weeks starting January 16, you get to read some amazing preselected book, put your name in for a draw every time you finish one, come to a couple of fun meetings (prizes, free food, movies), and then vote for your favourite book at the final party!



ONLINE LIBRARY RESOURCES FOR KIDS!


Listen to a talking book, or read a book online.

Find information for your school projects without even visiting the library! Remember to have your library card number handy.
